Communion

Why come to Communion? It's a question that many of us may be asking. In reply, these are the words of welcome and invitation that we use in St Michael's.

"Come to this table, not because you must but because you may, not because you are strong but because you are weak.

Come not because any goodness of your own gives you the right to come, but because you need mercy and help.

Come because you love the Lord a little and would like to love him more.

Come, because he loved you and gave himself for you.

Come and meet the risen Christ for we are his body"

The "main" communions take place four times a year, normally on the last Sunday of the months of January, April, June and October. The common cup is used during these services. On these occasions, the 9.30am service is all-age and the 11am service celebrates communion in a more formal setting.

The sacrament is also celebrated in the choir stalls after the 11am service on the last Sunday of the remaining months as well as Easter Sunday and Christmas Day. The individual cup is used on at least four of these occasions.

Children, grandchildren too, are welcome at our all-age communionsCommunion is also provided in the local St Michael’s Hospital, the Residential Care Homes and Nursing Homes as well as homes of members of the congregation who are housebound.

If you are housebound and would like to celebrate Holy Communion in your own home, please use in the first instance the "Home visit request" link in the panel on the right.
