All-Age Services take place in the gym hall of Springfield Primary School every Sunday (except for school holidays) from 9.45 a.m. until 10.30 a.m. These services are very popular with families with young children who feel they would like a more informal setting for worship. However, Springfield Services are open to people of all ages.
Services are usually conducted by one of the elders but are also led by one of the ministers from time to time with the congregation numbering around fifty to sixty people. The services are very child-friendly and their input is promoted with quizzes, participation, (some) action songs, and a sticker club to encourage regular attendance. The worship songs are easy tunes taken from Junior Praise, Mission Praise and Common Ground amongst others. Afterwards, the families, many who have been going for some years, have the opportunity for further fellowship over a cup of tea and a biscuit. This is prepared by girls from the Girl Guides who are working towards their Community Service award. The fact that a number of the children also use this chance to play handball in the gym hall, now devoid of chairs, indicates how firmly their fellowship is established!
If you have a young family (or grandchildren) and are looking for an opportunity to worship God in a less formal atmosphere, why not give Springfield Services a try? After all, to paraphrase - badly - the well-known saying, "the family that praises together, stays-es together" |
