St Michael's Lighthouse Library

St Michael's Lighthouse Library provides a wide variety of Books, Cds and videosSituated at the foot of the Kirkgate, in the Cross House complex, a warm welcome is extended to all to visit the Lighthouse, a lending library of mainly Christian material – videos, audio tapes and books. The Lighthouse, staffed by members of the congregation, is open on Sundays between the two morning services and immediately after the second service. It is also available for use by any church organisation, and may be opened on request for anyone who wishes to peruse at leisure.

Children are well catered for by means of some audio tapes, many books and lots of videos. The Storykeeper, Veggie Tales and Mr Henry’s Wild & Wacky World series are particularly popular. The recent acquisition of DVDs include the excellent series ‘Kids’ Ten Commandments’. Older children and teenagers are attracted by the available computer programs, in addition to suitable videos and books.

For adults there are many audio tapes, both for entertainment and bible study, a range of interesting videos, and books of various categories. Topics covered are aids to bible study, prayer and worship, guides to living the Christian life, ethical issues, biographies, and fiction. Authors such as William Barclay, C. S. Lewis, John R.W. Stott, and David Watson feature prominently on the book shelves.

The Lighthouse is also host to copies of the Sunday morning services for general borrowing. Bible study notes specifically ordered by individuals are also accessed here, along with quarterly issues of study notes for general congregational use.
