St Michael's Girls' Brigade Company
Meeting on Wednesday evenings, all sections of the company enjoy making crafts, playing games, hearing Bible stories, going on outings, having parties, as well as learning of social issues and making new friends. All this is to fulfil the aim of the Girls’ Brigade international family, which is to help girls become followers of the Lord Jesus Christ and through self-control, reverence and a sense of responsibility, to find true enrichment of life. Members are drawn from every Christian denomination and some have no church connection other than their membership of Girls’ Brigade but all are encouraged to attend a church group of their families’ choice on a Sunday. Explorers (P1, 2, 3) meet from 6pm to7pm in the Kirk Hall. They are recognisable by their white poloshirts, red sweatshirts and boundless energy and enthusiasm. Juniors (P4, 5) meet from 6pm to 7.30pm starting in the Adam Room. They wear royal blue sweatshirts with their white poloshirts.
“Seniors” ( P6, 7) are the older Juniors who meet from 7pm to 8.30pm starting in the Cellar. Brigaders (all secondary school girls) meet from 7.30pm to 9pm starting in the Adam Room. Uniform is a gold poloshirt and navy sweatshirt. All our activities are only possible because of the time and effort given by the company’s officers and helpers, all of whom have fully complied with the organisation’s Child Protection requirements. So much more could be offered if we had more staff to share the work. Could you give some time to promote the aim of the Girls’ Brigade? Experience of the organisation is not necessary. Contact the Captain, Mrs. Maureen Blake, with any queries.
