Care for the Family Course
YOUR CHILDREN AND ALCOHOL & DRUGS! If you have children who are upper primary / lower secondary school age, you may well have concerns about how they will handle the challenges of alcohol and drugs. Just the mention of the word drugs can strike fear into the hearts of many parents. Many people worry that there is nothing they can do to influence the choices their children make when it comes to alcohol, tobacco and drugs.
If these concerns sound familiar, then don’t worry – help is at hand! How to Drug Proof Your Kids is a course run throughout the UK and beyond. It doesn’t guarantee to “drug proof” your children of course, but it does equip you to tackle the challenges with confidence.
St. Michael’s now has two specially trained presenters – Alan Miller and Rona Molloy - who deliver this course annually, with the support of local experts and professionals to talk about the issues particularly relevant to Linlithgow. Come along for only 5 weeks and you will:
We normally have around 15 parents attending the course and these are some comments from the most recent participants:
“made me reconsider my importance in my children’s life – how being there for them, loving them and building up their self esteem would help to steer them away from drugs / alcohol”
“you feel closer to your children afterwards” “don’t sit at home and think “that’ll never happen to my family” – it might not, but it’s good to arm yourself with the facts and it’s a great social thing too”
